Blockchain, & Distributed Ledger Technologies

Summary

Many industries have been decentralised for decades, even centuries - long before the digital age, relying on international standards, protocols and customs for co-operation.  Shipping, air transport and air traffic control, finance and insurance are great examples where privacy matters, and centralisation to a single international technical provider is impossible.  We've shown how with self-sovereign identity and zero-knowledge proof techniques what could be achieved to transform the ecosystems that move goods and people.

TEKTowr has been at the cutting edge of developing a high throughput, private, permissioned blockchain solution, replacing Hyperledger Fabric’s default raft consensus algorithm with MirBFT - it’s Byzantine Fault Tolerance could keep the global aviation data exchange system ticking even when up to 30% of the participants misbehave, whether deliberately or as a result of being hacked. We’ve also demonstrated how zero knowledge proofs as well as self-sovereign identity (SSI) helps keep data and identity hidden, yet provable. This helps prevent single points of attack and control, which in turn helps reassure governments of data sovereignty. All this, and the added benefits of operating cost savings, will help new Advanced Air Mobility companies take to the skies as well as ensuring your flight won’t be disrupted by data flow failures. We know getting there won’t be easy, but painting a picture of possibility helps set the direction of travel for sustainable aviation IT.
